We have just completed a project for Wareham Meadows. Our brief was to research and design 2 interpretation boards and a brochure for this SSSI in Dorset.
Wareham Meadows is next to a new development of homes and runs alongside the River Frome. It is a rich and unique habitat and sits just outside the ancient Saxon walls of Wareham. Interpretation was required to inform the increasing numbers of visitors about the ecology, history and access arrangements of the site.
The first phase involved cataloguing and describing the species present, researching the historical aspect of the site, and writing accurate and descriptive copy. We established the fact that the site would be used throughout the year, therefore we proposed 2 distinct panel designs, one for Spring/Summer, another for Autumn/Winter. Following this we used images from our photo library and bespoke maps to illustrate the panels and brochure. The cutout designs featuring Celtic animals and symbols were designed in Illustrator and sent for laser cutting.
The signs are printed onto fade resistant coated aluminium panels and are placed back-to-back between powder coated stanchions, and look fabulous in situ.
